This is why I am a Keach fan once I found out about him. Though, not all of his metaphors are S-tier, they are super helpful!

Since Plato predates the NT, ive sometimes wondered if some of the light/dark/shadow imagery that gets used is a riff on his cave metaphor. “For now we see through a mirror darkly” etc

Maybe. But the OT has rich darkness/light imagery, too. Creation account especially but God uses it throughout.

For sure. I was thinking of something that more specifically felt just like the cave but can't recall the passage. If I think of it I'll come back here
